The stairs

We didn’t have a multi-thousand dollar budget to redo the stairs. But we had to do SOMETHING!

Underneath that sad, sad carpet was unfinished pine wood and lots of staples…

But redo-ing the stairs with LVP or wood just was not even close to being within budget for the house glow-up. I was getting ready to accept this for a year or so and make it a priority to save up for that. Then I asked our house painters for a estimate to rip up the carpet, rip out staples, sand and paint… $1500. SOLD!!!

And, you know what? I think I like this outcome even better than I would’ve liked wood. Its actually extremely practical for a very high traffic area where tiny-human-monster-tornadoes frequently tear through with various blunt objects and sticky substances. It can be easily touched up rather than refinished (though, we haven’t even had a chip thus far in over a year) and the non-slip, washable treads are AMAZING and washable. Also. did I mention they are WASHABLE!?

(Color: Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze. Oil based paint rather than latex for this application.)
